SPRAY-TAN FACT

The active ingredient in sunless tanning products is coloring agent DHA, which combines with amino acids in the skin to achieve the faux glow, only browns the outermost, dead cell layer of the skin whereas UV rays seep into deeper layers of the skin.

According to a 2019 Byrdie article titled “Everything You Need to Know About Getting A Spray Tan”...

... all spray tans contain DHA, but when it comes to all sunless tanning products they don’t contain the same % of it. The higher the percentage of DHA, the quicker and darker the tan develops. Some people are DHA sensitive and some are DHA resistant. Always talk to your spray tan applicator to figure out what amount is good for you.
